Creativity Found In Personal Change

Poster: Public School Studio

Hello!

You may have noticed that I’ve been slacking a bit on the posts. Well, it isn’t because I am lazy, it’s because I am BUSY! And I like it!

Sometimes all I wanna do is sit at home and relax with the boy. But lately I’ve been itching to do something else. So I went ahead and I enrolled in some classes at the local college. To be honest with you, I was kind of nervous to break the usual work-life routine. But it needed to happen. It is always a MUST for creatives to have some sort of mental stimulation, or we’ll die of boredom.

Today was my 1st class and felt the usual “stress” of returning to school “Am I too old for this shit? Should I be doing this? What if no one likes me!!!?” – let me tell you, all of this stress is just BULL SHIT.  As soon as I entered the classroom and saw everyone else in class I said to myself “Shut the fuck up! now open that book and start reading!!!!”  Oh man, it worked like a charm.

Don’t let your mind play tricks on you. Don’t let you mind tell you to stay at home and do nothing. Don’t let yourself down! Get up and do something else. It is our mind’s job to trick us into “safety mode”. It’s true, I read an article about it. We are wired to be safe and not to take risks. So to whom ever programmed our brains to do that – you’re an ass. But guess what? You can override that evil program! All you need to do is squeeze a ball or 2 (or a boob) and go for it. Do it! there’s nothing to lose. Absolutely nothing.

Change is good!

For this post I want to share with you a very cool blog that tackles all of those nasty habits of “getting yourself down and doing nothing about it”. Meet The Change Blog. A blog that – although doesn’t have the best design –  it nurtures your inner smile. So go ahead. Drench your eyes in some self-help.

My favorite post of the week – Choosing confidence: good advice about, well, choosing confidence over self fuckery. Remember that this is not only for personal help (like when your spouse dumped you) but also for your work / art life. It’s to be at ease with your creative process and to be happy!

So, now I am curious. What do you do to break the horrible routine spell? Got any special tricks? If you do, please leave a comment below and share the wisdom.

And I promise next post will be less cheesy and more arty.

Side note: to the A hole driver that almost knocked me down to the floor with his fugly truck – if you could stop focusing on your small peen and started focusing more on the wheel, perhaps you could avoid future accidents. Your peen won’t grow. Your ICBC bad rating will.

:)
