MIXOLOGY: Bourbon Rosemary Fizz

Bourbon Rosemary Fizz

Surprise! I came back to share with you a cocktail recipe to celebrate the new year. Nothing better than receiving 2013 with a glass of sparkling Bourbon Rosemary Fizz. This by far is one of my favorite cocktails – fresh, festive, and super easy to make.

Some recipes call for a simple syrup infused with rosemary, but not this one, who has the time?! This version is prepared like a mojito, where all the magic happens in the shaker, without having to spend extra time in the kitchen – which saves you time so you can party hardy. Ok, grab pen and paper. Ready?

Ingredients and steps to prepare 1 serving of Rosemary Bourbon Fizz:

Grab your shaker, put a little twig of fresh rosemary in it, squeeze half a lemon (less if you don’t like it sour), add 1 Tsp of sugar and muddle it good (until you can really smell the rosemary). If you don’t have a muddler, use the back of a wooden spoon. Kinda impractical, but it works. Once that’s done add a few ice cubes and 1 oz of Bourbon. Now shake it shake it like a polaroid picture.

Pour the mix (strain it using your shaker or use a regular strainer) into an old fashioned glass with a few extra ice cubes. Top up with Ginger Ale – totally recommend using the Santa Cruz Organic brand, it’s less sweet and tastes more natural. Garnish with a rosemary sprig and a lemon twist and ta-da!

Now close your eyes, take a sip, and make a wish for the new year! Hope you have a great NYE with your friends and family. Thanks again for being part of this Desperado journey. 2013 is gonna be even better!

Lots of love, friends.
